Mother's Day Special! - Woodlands Baby Photographer

Mother's day is around the corner, May 9th! I know that all you moms can agree with me that being a mom is so rewarding, but also the hardest job you have ever had.

So I am holding a contest for new and seasoned moms everywhere! KP photo is holding mom mini sessions the week of April 24/25th. These sessions will be 30 minutes in length and would be a great time to come try me out, if you are a new client. But also a great way to get some updated mommy and me photos for a discounted rate, if you are already part of our family.

Here is the contest! Mother's day is special to me, because I found out on Mother's day 2 years ago, that I was expecting Caden. We had waited 5 years, through many rounds of infertility treatment for our little miracle. And to hear that we were expecting on Mother's day was just perfect. It was nothing romanctic for us, just a phone call from the Dr. But still music to our ears. We even made a YouTube video to announce it to everyone!

So I want to hear how you found out you were going to be a mom. Whether it was 20 years ago, or just yesterday. Heck, you might want to announce it here! How cool would that be. I will pick the best story and give the winner a free pendant, shown below (photo must be taken at a new session with KP Photo). That is a $150 value. You can use it anytime this year, so if you are just newly pregnant, no worries! :) All you have to do is write your story in the comment section under this post. You have until 4/23 to enter! So send this to your friends. I want to hear all of the amazing "I'm pregnant" stories.

And while your at it schedule a Mommy and Me Mini session on the weekend on April 24-25th. Your sitting fee is only $25 for this special session. And we will be offering a two products just for this mini session, they will not be offered during our normal sessions! A makeup bag with your photos on it for cost at $50. (Larger bags are also available.) And a gorgeous photo pendant with a leather cord for $150. It is waterproof, unlike many photo pendants. You will fall in love with mine! Also available in horizontal.

So if you have been wanting some mother/child photos, now is the time! All portraits will be guaranteed by Mother's day. And don't forget to enter the contest, just type in your I'm pregnant stories below. Be sure to include your name and email (or register with a profile) so I can contact you when you win. Good luck!

  1. After waiting 5 years, we hear the best news from our Dr. We were so excited. Chris was busy at work, so I went home and made a little video of the animals and I telling everyone we were pregnant! Then we posted it on YouTube. Too funny. Oh, to have that much time on our hands again. :) We were just praying that I was just pregnant with 1 and not 3.

  2. We had an outdoors club camping and kayaking trip planned that weekend and thought we might be pregnant. So to figure out whether or not I could imbibe, a pregnancy test at the campground bathroom confirmed it! We spent the weekend socializing, camping and kayaking all the while my mind kept wandering cause I couldn't believe I actually had a little baby inside me!

  3. My story is not quite the touching, fuzzy story of trying for years--but still a beautiful miracle in my book! I had recently returned from a trip to Belize- where I had fallen passionately in love at first sight with my gorgeous Jungle Guide. Since we had used protection and I had even had a regular period since my return, I didn't have the least suspision that I could be pregnant when I went in for my well-woman exam (despite the fact that my beloved jungle guide, AND a local Belizean woman, AND my Ecuadorian aunt AND her daughter each mysteriously and individually declared to me that I was pregnant prior to my exam!!) I will admit that the oddity of all those declarations did lead me to buy a home pregnancy test--which was negative. Twice. So when the doctor came in the exam room and said "It's Positive!" I was wondering what I had tested positive for!! When he said pregnancy--my doctor had to literally catch me because I nearly fell off the exam table. Then I came to my "senses" and started arguing that he had the wrong urine--after all, I'd had a regular cycle! Once they verified it with an ultrasound I was finally convinced--but in a deep shock. I had plans with my girlfriends to have sushi directly afterwards, but I was in such a daze that I drove around for ages--completely lost. When I finally arrived, utterly frazzled and in shock, my girlfriends couldn't understand why I wouldn't have any wine or raw fish with them (my fave)--so I had to share the news. But then, just a few hours later, I was at the Symphony. The music of Mozart surrounded me, comforted me, and I knew everything was right with the world. The tiny miracle inside me was my dream come true...and that is when I realized what true love really is.

  5. We had been trying for nearly 3 years and were "taking a break" for the holidays and to discuss if we wanted to give IVF a try. We took a trip and I was feeling sick every evening. When we came home I got really sick and my husband kept telling me I was pregnant but I didn't believe him. Finally I took a test. I was afraid to see it so I asked my husband to tell me the result. He went into the bathroom and came out asking, "If one line is no and 2 lines is yes, what does 3 lines mean?" He just wanted me to see the results for myself!

As this was the first grandchild on my side and kind of the first on his side, we decided to fly out to Florida to tell our family the good news in person. So they wouldn't be suspicious, we stayed with a friend who had recently had a baby and used the excuse that we wanted to meet their new daughter. We went to my in-law's house for brunch and invited my parents and both of our brothers to join us. We made buttons - one half was pink, the other half was blue. Along the edge of the button we wrote, "Is it a boy? Is it a girl? Find out in August 2006!" And the middle of each button said, "I'm going to be an uncle / grandma / etc." About half way through the brunch (with my mother-in-law getting irritated that I wouldn't drink any mimosas!) we said we wanted to give everyone a little gift to thank them for coming to see us on such short notice. Each person then received their pin wrapped up as a little present. They were all shocked speechless at first - and then the tears started flowing! My mom used the pin to tell all of her friends too. She didn't say anything, she would just wear it when she met them for lunch or coffee and see how long it took them to realize what it said. ;-)

  6. It was our first month trying and after the first few weeks I just didn't feel right and I kept telling my husband that my sense of smell was really strong. He kept saying your pregnany and I kept saying no, it can't be possible, it was only the first month. I took probably 5 or 6 tests and they were all negative because I was taking them too early. Then on the first day that the test said I might actually get a postive, I took the test at 3:00AM. I was actually sick with a head cold and couldn't sleep and had to pee so I thought might as well not waste a trip to the potty! I went in to the bathroom, did the old Pee on a Stick routine and then I saw what I thought couldn't be true, two faint lines. I actually called my husband into the bathroom at 3:00AM and said am I seeing things or does this mean what I think it means. Sure enough it was positive and we hugged and cried in the bathroom at 3:00AM. Too bad we both couldn't go back to sleep after that! Nine months later my precious baby boy arrived in my arms!

  7. My husband and I had been trying for about a year to get pregnant. Once we got pregnant, we decided that we would fly out to Atlanta to tell my family. I had to let one of my sisters in on the secret to plan something. So, we planned to have a "birthday" dinner for my sister's boyfriend at a Japanese steakhouse.

Hubby and I flew to Atlanta, rented a car, and went to the restaraunt on a Friday after work and were the first ones there. My family was SHOCKED to see us. We told them we were there to just see them which was somewhat true. And they pretty much bought it.

We did what a lot of first time parents do and brought gifts to announce the pregnancy. My sisters got a charm bracelet with an aunt charm, my dad got a coffee mug that said Gramps something or other. I got my mom a necklace that said grandmother and had scroll work around it to make it in the shape of heart. Well, my sisters are crying their eyes out, my dad has his mouth hanging open and my mom looks at the necklace and says "That's nice. Thanks." And proceeded to put the necklace behind her on the seat. I asked her if she could read it and she said yes and that it was nice. I was not expecting that reaction. She finally looked up and saw my sisters crying and my dad not saying anything and asked me what was going on so I borrowed some cheaters from a lady at the next table to let my mom use to read the pendant. She was SO EXCITED!

They did not want to let me go home that weekend!

  8. We found out we were pregnant with our 2nd on Thanksgiving morning and in a way the news saved my life. Due to a Doctors mistake, during my c-section with our first child, I almost lost my life and it more than scared me, it altered my personality. I fell into a deep depression and was diagnosed with PTSD. I was told I may not be able to have any more children and that was devestating news to me. I was in ICU after my daughters birth for a week and felt I was not able to ever bond with her. When I took that pregnancy test and saw it was positive it was like a light got switched on. I snapped out of my deprssion and eventually was able to achieve the bond I had been missing with my daughter. Our entire family was there for Thanksgiving and we got to tell everyone at the same time and it was just the perfect day.

  9. We found out we were pregnant after a few months of x-rays, ultrasounds, tests and even a catscan. We were about to move into our new house and Chloe was 2 when I was involved in a hit and run accident. Shortly there after I started experiencing severe pain in my side and abnormal bleeding. I first went to my regular physician who immediately did an x-ray which showed nothing. Then he scheduled me for a catscan and bloodwork. After all of that came back normal....I went to my OBGYN who said everything seemed to be normal and scheduled me for an ultrasound. The ultrasound also came back normal! After 2 months of pain and abnormal bleeding I just felt something was definately not normal! I took an at-home pregnancy test that came back posetive! After that I took 3 more because after all the tests I could not believe it! I quickly changed OBGYN's and only had 7 more months to go in pregnancy number 2. And believe it or not she is still the most stubborn and precious baby girl today.....3 and 1/2 years later.

  10. Am I too late? your email said 'contest ends friday'... Here's my story :) I knew I was pregnant before I even took the test. I could just feel my body was different & we had been trying. I just had this feeling but I doubted myself. But deep down I just knew. So when I took the test and saw the double line I was all by myself & I had the most special moment. I could just feel myself glowing. My husband was still at work so I was by myself but it was so magical. The first moment of Motherhood.

ps - I don't know what 'profile' to select - when I post it says to select a profile(?)
