Family Portrait Outfits

One of the most widely asked questions of me is what do I wear for our family portrait. We don't want to be too matchy, we don't want to clash.

So here are some great examples I have found that will give you some ideas.

These came from Old Navy. They go together enough to be visually appealling. My advice for families is to go for coordinating but not matching. Try to think of the entire family’s clothing as one outfit where the pieces all coordinate. And of course, everyone that knows me knows that I always recommend color!

1. Are you expecting, due within the next 2 months?
2. Are you expecting and are willing to allow me to take newborn portraits of your newborn, under 1 week old? You will have to be laid back and willing to let me do some "out of the box" things to your newborn.
3. Are you expecting twins or triplets?
4. Are you a family that is expecting a new daughter, has 2 daughters already and would like to do some portraits of the girls of the family when the new daughter arrives? Could be a blended family.

Handsome Mr. E - Woodlands TX newborn

Sunday, before I left, I had the chance to meet Mr. E. He arrived last week and so I was anxious to get over to his house and shoot, shoot, shoot! So I ran over to their home before I left town for two weeks.

Mr. E did so well. It took awhile to get him asleep, but once we finally did, we were in 7th heaven. 

You guys did great! He is perfect in every way! Here are a few of my favorites.

The W family

Last Sunday we waited until 7pm for the heat to go away, but it only cooled down to 95 degrees. So the W family was a trooper to look pretty through it all. Miss H and T looked so cute in their hats. Hopefully next time I see them it will be a little cooler.

Mr. E is on his way!

Mr. E should be here by now. We did his mom's maternity shoot on Sunday which we had been planning for awhile. She was so excited about it. You probably recognize little Miss R from her debut on the blog from awhile back in her first birthday shoot, and now she will be a big sister.

We will see them a little later in the week for Mr. E's first professional newborn shoot. Hope you guys enjoy the portraits!

Caden turns 6 months old!

My sweet boy turned 6 months old last weekend. Celebrating with shots and snotty nose, but he was a trooper. Even started crawling on Saturday. Hard to believe it was 6 months ago that he blessed me with joining our family! My how life has changed. Wouldn't change a thing.

Miss H is turning 1!

This week we had a one year old come to the studio. Miss H was a bit shy, but we managed to get some great shots. See what you think.

Miss S - Soon to be model

What a doll! I could not have asked for a better model! The shoot started out a little shaky, but once we got started, we were on a roll! She slept right through and let us do all kinds of things to her. I have so many favorites! I can't imagine being her parents trying to choose! Good luck you guys!
